Do I need hiking experience for Forest Bathing?
1
Not at all.
Forest bathing is very different from hiking. While hiking is often focused on reaching a destination, covering distance, or getting exercise, forest bathing is about slowing down and experiencing the forest through your senses.
Our guided forest bathing experiences are designed to be accessible for people of many ages, abilities, and fitness levels. We move slowly, take frequent pauses, and spend time noticing the sights, sounds, textures, and rhythms of the natural world. There is no pressure to keep a certain pace, climb difficult terrain, or achieve a physical goal.
In fact, many participants are surprised by just how little distance we cover during a session.
Whether you're an avid outdoor enthusiast or someone who rarely spends time on the trails, you are welcome here. The only requirement is a willingness to slow down, be curious, and allow yourself to be present in nature.
At Wooded Wellness Collective, we believe the forest meets you exactly where you are. Our role is simply to guide the experience and create a welcoming space for you to reconnect—with nature, with your senses, and with yourself.

What should I bring for a Forest Bathing session?
2
One of the beautiful things about forest bathing is its simplicity. You don't need special equipment, expensive gear, or outdoor expertise to participate. We encourage you to bring only what helps you feel comfortable, supported, and present during your experience.
Here are a few items we recommend:
🌲 Something Comfortable to Sit On
A blanket, yoga mat, cushion, or other comfortable seating option can make your experience more enjoyable during periods of stillness and reflection. If sitting on the ground isn't comfortable for you, please feel free to bring a folding chair. We want you to feel supported throughout the session.
👟 Comfortable Footwear
Wear shoes that are comfortable for walking on natural trails. Some participants enjoy removing their shoes at certain points to experience the forest floor more directly, so footwear that is easy to slip on and off can be helpful. Of course, this is always optional.
🧥 Layers for Changing Conditions
Even on warm days, the forest can feel cooler beneath the tree canopy. A light jacket, sweater, or long-sleeved shirt can help you stay comfortable throughout the experience.
💧 A Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is always a good idea, especially during warmer months.
🦟 Bug Protection if Needed
While we encourage minimizing strong scents whenever possible to support a more immersive sensory experience, bug spray may be helpful during certain times of the year. Your comfort matters, and we want you to enjoy your time in the forest.
☀️ Weather-Appropriate Clothing
Dress for the season and forecast. We recommend comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily and relax fully.
Most importantly, bring an open mind and a willingness to slow down.
At Wooded Wellness Collective, forest bathing isn't about performance or preparation. It's about arriving just as you are and allowing the forest to guide you into a deeper experience of presence, connection, and wonder.
How long is a Forest Bathing session?
3
Most Wooded Wellness Collective forest bathing experiences last approximately 2 to 3 hours.
That may sound longer than a typical walk in the woods, but forest bathing unfolds at a much slower pace. Rather than focusing on distance or destination, we create space for mindful exploration, sensory awareness, quiet reflection, and meaningful connection with the natural world.
During a session, you'll be guided through a series of gentle invitations designed to help you slow down, engage your senses, and experience the forest in a deeper way. There are periods of walking, pausing, observing, and simply being present.
Many participants are surprised by how quickly the time passes. Without the distractions and demands of everyday life, a few hours in the forest often feels both restorative and refreshing.
We encourage you to view your forest bathing session as a gift of time—an opportunity to step away from the busyness of life and reconnect with nature, your senses, and yourself.
At Wooded Wellness Collective, we believe that slowing down is not time lost. It's time well spent.
What is the cell phone policy?
To help create a truly immersive forest bathing experience, we ask all participants to disconnect from their devices and fully engage with the natural world around them.
At the beginning of each session, all cell phones must be put away and placed on airplane mode. Once the session begins, phones should remain stored and will not be used during the experience.
We understand that many people enjoy capturing beautiful moments in nature. Participants are welcome to take photographs after the formal session has ended and the closing words have been spoken. This allows everyone to be fully present during the experience without the distraction of screens, notifications, or the temptation to document the moment rather than live it.
If an emergency arises, your Forest Bathing Guide will have a phone available and accessible throughout the session.
While stepping away from our devices can feel unfamiliar at first, many participants tell us this becomes one of the most meaningful aspects of their experience. Without the constant pull of technology, it becomes easier to notice the sounds of the forest, the movement of the wind through the trees, and the subtle moments of connection that forest bathing is designed to cultivate.
At Wooded Wellness Collective, we believe one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is a few uninterrupted hours of presence—in nature, with others, and within ourselves.
Have other questions?
One of the wonderful aspects of forest bathing is that it invites us to experience nature as it is—and that includes the weather.
At Wooded Wellness Collective, sessions will typically proceed in light rain or mist, as these conditions can often enhance the forest bathing experience. The scent of the earth becomes richer, colors appear more vibrant, and the sounds of the forest can take on a new depth and softness. Many participants find that a gentle rain creates some of the most memorable and immersive experiences in the woods.
We do, however, prioritize participant safety. Sessions may be canceled or rescheduled if there is:
Heavy rain
Thunderstorms
High winds
Severe weather advisories
Any conditions that could create an unsafe environment
If weather conditions require us to cancel a session, we will contact participants at least one hour before the scheduled start time whenever possible. Communication will be sent using the contact information provided during registration.
We recommend checking the forecast before your session and dressing appropriately for the conditions. A light rain jacket, extra layer, or waterproof footwear can help ensure you remain comfortable if the weather is cool or damp.
At Wooded Wellness Collective, we believe some of nature's most meaningful moments happen when we embrace the season and weather exactly as they are. Sometimes a misty forest, soft rainfall, or cool breeze can become part of the experience itself.
